What It Costs to Study Chinese in Kunming
Most schools make you email to find out the price. We'd rather show you. KCEL has taught Mandarin in Kunming since 1999, and we price the way we teach — per class, around your goals, not in rigid packages you have to fit into. Below is the full picture: the rates, what's included, and an estimator so you can sketch your own plan before you ever talk to us.

A class is 45 minutes. 1-on-1 intensities are typical examples — yours can be anything. The small-group cohort is a fixed 5-month program.

1-on-1 Private Tuition

- ~$2,600 for the full cohort at the launch rate

Pricing questions
Why charge per class instead of a fixed package?
Because your plans change. Per-class pricing lets you study at any intensity, then extend, pause, or adjust without losing money on a rigid bundle. You only pay for classes you take.
Is the estimator the price I'll actually pay?
It's a close ballpark, not a quote. The exact rate depends on your start date (summer vs. standard) and the plan we design together. We confirm everything on your invoice before you pay anything.
What is the accident insurance fee?
A short-term personal accident policy underwritten by Taiping General Insurance (China Taiping) that covers every student for the duration of their stay — $7 per 30-day block, rounded up. It's accident cover only, not a replacement for travel or health insurance.
Do you offer scholarships or discounts?
