HSK (level 2) tests candidates' ability to use Chinese in daily life, which corresponds to level 2 of the International Standard of Chinese proficiency and level A2 of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF). Candidates who have passed HSK (level 2) can communicate in Chinese on familiar daily topics in a simple and direct manner, thus achieving the primary Chinese proficiency level.
1. Test subjects
HSK (level 2) is mainly for students who have studied Chinese for two semesters (one academic year) according to the schedule of 2-3 class hours per week and master 300 most commonly used words and relevant grammar knowledge.
2. Examination contents
HSK (level 2) consists of two parts: listening and reading.
All exams will take about 55 minutes (including 5 minutes for candidates to fill in their personal information).
(1) Listening
Part one, 10 questions. Listen to each question twice. Each question will be a sentence, and a picture will be provided on the test paper. Candidates should judge right or wrong based on what they hear.
Part two, 10 questions. Listen to each question twice. Each question will be a dialogue. Several pictures will be provided on the test paper. Candidates should select the corresponding pictures based on what they hear.
Part three, five questions. Listen to each question twice. Each question will be four or five sentences of dialogue between two people. The third person will ask a question based on the dialogue. Three options are provided on the test paper, and candidates should select the answer based on what they hear.
(2) Reading
Part one, five questions. There will be several pictures on the test paper. Each question will provide a sentence. Candidates should select the corresponding picture according to the sentence content.
Part two, five questions. Each question will provide one or two sentences with a single blank.
Candidates should choose from the options provided and fill in the blanks.
Part three, five questions. Each question will provide two sentences. Candidates should decide whether the second sentence is consistent with the first.
Part 4, ten questions. 20 sentences will be provided, and candidates should find the corresponding relation.
The questions on the exam paper will have pinyin.
3. Performance report
The HSK (level 2) report will provide three parts of scores: listening, reading and total. The total score above 120 will be qualified.
